We visited the technology company Milmech Systems located in Viljandi, where they are developing a demining robot to make mine neutralization faster, safer, and more cost-effective. The robot’s purpose is to keep the EOD soldier away from the death zone by creating quick passages. Milmech Systems’ robot is unique in the world because existing solutions are too expensive and complicated to produce.
According to the company’s development manager Mehis Vinni, the first working prototype is ready, tests with explosives have been completed, and after finishing additional developments, it will be tested on the Estonian Defense Forces’ polygon minefield. Currently, they are also looking for investors for additional funding and hope that the Estonian state will make a reference purchase.
