The Estonian Defence Industry Cluster today introduced the Baltic Drone Wall concept for the first time, which aims to strengthen the eastern border of the European Union and NATO. It is a cooperation initiative between Poland, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, which is currently joined by DefSecIntel Solutions, Rantelon, Marduk Technologies, Lendurai, Hevi Optronics, Frankenburg Technologies and TELEKONTA.
According to Rene Ehasalu, Head of the Defence Estonia Cluster, the drone wall will help to counter the threats of the new era, but also demonstrate the ability of local industry to contribute to ensuring the security of both Estonia and the surrounding region, while creating a framework for closer cooperation between the countries of the region.
The Baltic Drone Wall will be a combination of autonomous surveillance systems enriched with artificial intelligence, integrated drone countermeasure systems, multilayer sensor networks, drones for countering hostile drones and mobile drone countermeasure platforms, which will be integrated into a central control system, which in turn will provide an operational overview of the entire border in real time.
