Did you know that the Norwegian, German, Finnish, Latvian and Lithuanian defence forces use boots made in Estonia for their official uniforms?

Samelin AS, an Estonian company with a long history, has been producing high-quality, special-technology footwear for decades, which is used both here and elsewhere. There is no room for compromise in the quality of the boots, which have to be able to withstand the harsh sub-zero temperatures as well as the rains that are typical of our climate.

Since 2017, Samelin has also been producing military footwear for various NATO military units in compliance with the NATO-AQAP 2110 standard. The most popular of these is the M77 boot model, also known as the Norwegian military boot, but also used by the Estonian Defence Forces, for example.

EKTL paid them a visit to meet Leida Kikka, Samelin’s feisty leader, and to see first-hand how they make boots that really last for decades.
