On Friday, August 1, during the seventh anniversary of the Cyber Command, a ceremonial event took place at the War Museum, during which the Maryland National Guard and the Defense Attaché Office of the United States Embassy in Estonia donated a flag to the Estonian Cyber Command.

The flag’s primary color is black, symbolizing loyalty and faithfulness as well as a technical unit and structural division. In the center of the black flag field, on the command’s emblem, there is a black circular shield with two crossed golden lightning bolts and a silver sword in vertical position. The silver color symbolizes wisdom while gold represents honor. The crossed lightning bolts symbolize traditional electrical communications, from which modern cyber warfare has emerged. The lightning bolts connect and integrate cyberspace with the four battle domains: land, air, sea, and space.

During the ceremony, 12 fastening nails were driven into the flagpole. In addition to the Cyber Command Commander Colonel René Innos and cyber forces personnel, nails were also driven by Maryland National Guard Commander Major General Janeen Birckhead, US Embassy Deputy Defense Attaché Corey Charkowske and Chargé d’Affaires Matthew E. Wall, Ministry of Defense Chancellor Kaimo Kuusk, Defense League Headquarters Chief Colonel Tõnu Miil, Defense League Cyber Defense Unit Commander and first Cyber Command Commander Colonel Andres Hairk, Foreign Intelligence Service Director Kaupo Rosin, and Estonian Defence and Aerospace Industry Association CEO Kalev Koidumäe.
